This one girl I met at a house show invited me to another house show that she was hosting at a house in Denver, which belonged to a band that was touring for the Summer. Tennis was the first band to play. I had no idea this band had such a blog following, but now I understand why. [..]

The Wandering Bears contacted me recently about playing BackForty. To be quite honest, I hadn’t heard of the band. The gentleman that contacted me about the show played at BackForty (s00kr33m’s) before with Dewi Sant -  which was a magical evening. For that reason, I was very excited to check out The Wandering Bears’ tracks. [..]

It’s going to be a shitty weekend weather-wise, which means we should all forget about skiing or climbing or whatever granola activity we do on the weekends and just sit ourselves in a club/bar and get down on the get down. [..]

The Morning Benders performed at the Hi-Dive. Let me tell you, 16-something year old girls love The Morning Benders. I assume it’s the bubble gum, do-wop harmonies mixed with the above average musicianship. The Morning Benders sounded great in a venue that isn’t always accommodating. [..]

For once, Denver came to Boulder to play last night.  Or, I should say, to Astroland- Boulder’s very new, very own all ages DIY space, which opened a few months ago.  The unlikely suburban auto garage-turned-indie venue hosted four metro Denver bands: Weed Diamond, Brothers Chars, Accordion Crimes, and Thee Goochi Boiz.  Jeff the Brotherhood were billed for the evening, but, unfortunately, the Nashville band didn’t make it.  I heard rumor that they got stuck in Wyoming, which seems to happen to alot of touring bands around these parts.  (Its like the Bermuda Triangle of the West.)  Regardless, Denver’s own kept everyone entertained. Last night three NYC bands (two from Brooklyn and one from Staten Island) went magnum at the Hi-Dive in Denver. The bill consisted of Freelance Whales, Bears in Heaven and Cymbals Eat Guitars or, as I like to say, Freelance Bears Eat Cymbals (FBEC). The show got off to a slow start. Supposedly, the FBEC tour bus took a wrong turn and ended up in Wyoming. But, by the end of the night the place was packed and the sound was terrific. [..]

2010 is shaping up to be the year of the follow up album.  Scores of killer bands are dropping new albums after having experienced widespread popular and critical success with their previous.  Vampire Weekend, the Liars, Beach House, Yeasayer and Joanna Newsom are among a few we’ve  seen so far, but there are way way more to come.  (Stereogum did a nice “Most anticipated list of 2010″ here, that is enough to get any music geek aflutter) [..]

Thanks to TwentyFourBit I found the band Pomplamoose. This Corte Madera, CA band has wonderful original songs, but it’s their music video covers’ that caught my eye. Just recently they released a cover music video of Lady Gaga’s “Telephone.” [..]
