The sun was melting into a gorgeous early spring evening as people started trickling in to s00krEEm’s place on Sunday, March 28th. Peace, Loving and Pollination Population carpooled from Denver and arrived a little after 5pm with a car full of musical goodies. Bug, the house artist for the evening, showed up around the same time to hang up scores of her colorful sketches, turning the living room into an eclectic, intimate den. Strands of Christmas lights began to glow white, red and multicolored throughout the room as guests mingled, the musicians unloaded their gear and the sun sunk behind the Flatirons.
Once the stage was set and the sun had disappeared from the sky, the music began with Pollination Population, otherwise known as Kate Ersing. Kate’s set was subtle, gorgeous, haunting. Her unique voice held the room in near-rapturous silence. She accompanied herself simply on guitar and with loops of noise and sound she cued on some old tape decks. It was a truly wonderful set, and I’d recommend any Denverites to check out this local gem.

As would be expected, the night had some twists and turns, but ultimately it was just what we were hoping for – a celebration of good art and good company. We want to thank both bands, Bug, our featured artist for the eve (whose work is still up for viewing over here at s00krEEm’s, if you ever want to stop by for a beer and a looksee) and everyone who came out to enjoy the evening with us. We had a lovely time – we hope you all did too.
